That's to be expected - s2ram doesn't recognise your card already so you need to set a configuration file to tell it which options to use when not calling it by hand. What would be most useful and would allow automatic support of your machine in the future would be if you could report back about suspending from the console as mentioned here: http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram#My_machine_is_not_in_the_whitelist.2C_what_can_i_do.3F (basically is there an option that allows you to suspend from the console and X with the screen returning?)
