Hi!

I am owning an ASUS M3700N laptop already for some years. Suspend to
ram had never been working, but as I upgraded to openSUSE 10.2 some
weeks ago I thought give it a try.

The computer is not on the whitelist:
Machine is unknown.
This machine can be identified by:
    sys_vendor   = "ASUSTeK Computer Inc.        "
    sys_product  = "M3N       "
    sys_version  = "1.0       "
    bios_version = "0205    "
See http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram for details.

So I went through the suggested testing sequence.

None of the '-a' options worked, though '-a 1' did at least switch on
the backlight. But I could not get any output displayed on the
screen (tested in console mode).

In those modes, 'halt -p' (typed blind) did shut down, however a
'reboot' was hanging at some point putting the fan on max speed.

'-p -s' does work, but takes something like 10-15s before the system
is up.
'-s' does work, too, in console mode, and system is (almost)
immediately up. However, from within X, while '-s' does come back and
display the window frames (I'm using fvwm), the actual contents of the
windows (emacs, xterms etc) are gone! The windows do work, I can
start programs, type commands and exit them - just no display...
This weird behaviour stays, even if I kill and restart the X server.

'-p -s' does work both in console and X, but for both has the long
delay. In console mode I could spot a message 'Function not
implemented?' in the output.

In short, I put
  S2RAM_OPTS="-f -p -s"
in /etc/pm/config and now pm-suspend works :-)

Cheers,

  Pit
