Hi,

I've tried all kinds of variants of s2ram options, but it doesn't (fully)
wake the machine up. The best I can get is that the display is not waken up.
The machine is responsive (i.e. I can safely reboot it using the keyboard,
imagining what would be on the display). The backlight goes on, but that's
with the display. I'm having an ATI Mobility Radeon X300 video card.

The s2disk doesn't suspend the machine at all. It goes with a black screen
telling me something like:

Preparing hibernate...
<something else>...

and the screen stays like that for more than 5mins and after that I just
shut it down the hard way and start it again to continue working...

userspace, by default.

http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram
There are more switches than just "-a".

wrt. suspend to disk: do you have a LVM or device-mapper setup? If not, it
should just work, so if it doesn't you should file a bug at
http://bugzilla.novell.com
If you have a DM or LVM setup, it will probably not work with 10.2 but
only
with 10.3.
