This post reminds me of a discussion a while back. Anyone know if any researchers are currently looking at energy life cycle assessments of HVHHF? Seems this is another critical piece of the puzzle against drilling.

Suddenly the clean gas produced does not look so clean.” “Add the amount of diesel used to drill the holes, plus the amount of energy used to transport gas back to the place of use, and you realise that if Shell claims natural gas produced by fracking to be a ‘clean fuel’, this implies that they either have not done their homework on Energy Life Cycle Assessments or they are trying to hide the facts.” Burning fossil fuels to get fossil fuels. “Energy life cycle assessments are quite interesting.” "Listening to Shell I was struck by the massive amount of energy that would be expended in extracting energy through fracking." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Visit the Sustainable Otsego website: http://sustainableotsego.org/ Sign the petition to ban hydrofracking in NYS here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/NY-Statewide-Ban-On-Natural-Gas-Drilling/ Digest mode and other options available here: http://lists.riseup.net/www/suboptions/sustainableotsego You can unsubscribe from this list by sending an email to: [email protected] __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 5998 (20110329) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 5998 (20110329) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com For more information about sustainability in the Tompkins County area, please visit: http://www.sustainabletompkins.org/ If you have questions about this list please contact the list manager, Tom Shelley, at [email protected].
