Interested in birds and birding? The Finger Lakes Land Trust is pleased to 
announce the Spring Bird Quest to be held Memorial Day Weekend (May 25, 26, and 
27) at Land Trust protected properties. The Bird Quest is an opportunity to 
visit unique natural areas while raising awareness for the protection of vital 
bird habitat.

Mark Chao, experienced birder, will be lead four, free guided hikes for new and 
experienced birders alike. Bring binoculars if you have them! Feel free to 
attend any or all of the walks.

Saturday, May 25 8:00 AM, Bird Quest at the Dorothy McIlroy Bird Sanctuary 
(Summerhill, Cortland County). Join us for a walk through this wetland complex 
which features a wide variety of bird species. From Cortland, follow Rt. 281 
north to intersection with Rt. 90. Turn left (west) on Rt. 90 and follow for 5 
miles to Lake Como Rd. Turn right on Lake Como Rd. and continue for about 2 mi 
to Fire Lane A. Make right onto Lane A to find parking area on right.

Sunday, May 26, 8:00 AM, Bird Quest at the Lindsay-Parsons Biodiversity 
Preserve (West Danby, Tompkins County). This preserve, located just 8 miles 
from downtown Ithaca features forest, field, and lake and a diversity of 
habitats for birds and other wildlife. From Ithaca, take Rt. 13 south to 
junction with Rt. 34/96. Continue south on 34/96 to hamlet of West Danby. 
Preserve entrance is on left, ½ mile past Sylvan drive.

Monday, May 27, 6:30 AM, Bird Quest at the Goetchius Wetland Preserve 
(Caroline, Tompkins County). This one is for the early risers! Enjoy an early 
morning at this preserve to see what birds are visiting. From Ithaca, take Rt. 
79 east approximately 11 miles and turn left on Flat Iron Rd. Continue up the 
road approx. 0.5 mile and park on the shoulder of the road.

Monday, May 27, 8:30 AM, Bird Quest at the Roy H. Park Preserve (Dryden, 
Tompkins County). This preserve takes visitors through fields and forests and 
down to Six Mile Creek.  From Ithaca, take Rt. 13 north to Irish Settlement Rd. 
Turn right and continue 1.5 miles past Hammond Hill Rd. The preserve parking 
area is on the left just past the southern end of Goodband Rd.

Walks are free and open to the public. Birders of all skill level are welcome.
