*Check out the Sustainability Internship Program!* *The** Sustainability Internship Program, **a feature of the** Sustainability Center, **matches organizations, government agencies and businesses with ambitious college students who can tackle projects in Tompkins County over the course of one or two semesters. * Since its launch in the Fall 2011, the *Sustainability Internship Program*has *successfully matched 58 students* from *Cornell*, *Ithaca College*,* and Tompkins Cortland Community College* and *placed them in 25 sites *across *Tompkins County.* Students have tackled projects addressing: composting, energy planning, wood smoke assessment, waste reduction, greening operations, and wetlands development, among others. Internships typically require 8-10 hours or less per week and follow the collegiate calendar. *Projects must address one of the following sustainability themes:* *Transportation Alternatives* *Waste Diversion and Reduction* *Social Justice* *Energy / Greenhouse Gas Emissions* *Community Health* *Smart Development / Green Building* *Natural Resource Conservation* *Sustainable Agriculture/Local Food* I*f your project fits one of the themes above, take a look at the HOST SUPERVISOR responsibilities*: 1) *Participate in one Introductory Meeting / Orientation **at the beginning of the semester* 2) *Complete one pre- and one post-internship survey* 3) *Provide guidance and instruction* to intern(s) throughout placement so it is meaningful for both host organization and student 4) *Participate in a presentation at the Sustainability Center **at the end of the fall or spring semester,* *created and implemented by student interns, to spotlight achievements resulting from internship* *If those responsibilities seem manageable to you, complete an INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION at:* http://www.sustainabilityctr.org/SIP.pdf *and submit by FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20th, 2013, *to [email protected]. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION*: Sustainability Center staff will contact you if we have questions or information is missing from your description. Your placement will then be posted on our website for students to consider. Center staff will promote your internship(s) across various student and community networks, and will contact you directly when students have applied (and have indicated compatible skills and experience). From there, Host Supervisors conduct interviews with internship candidates and decide who to offer placements to.
