Subject: Exxon is going to hate this:
To: Anthony Del Plato <[email protected]>

Friends,

Big news just dropped: *Massachusetts and the U.S. Virgin Islands just
joined New York and California in investigating Exxon. *

A coalition is forming of State Attorneys General committed to fighting the
fossil fuel industry’s fraud. And the other AGs *know* there’s grounds for
an investigation -- but they need to see that they've got a broad base of
support behind them to step up and launch one. Let's show that this case
remains a top priority for people across the country.

*Today, we're launching a brand new website for the campaign to hold Exxon
accountable, and we wanted you to be first to see it. Can you help by
spreading it far and wide?

**Amazing
#ExxonKnew momentum: thx @MassAGO, U.S. Virgin Islands for stepping up!
Let's tell more AGs to investigate.*

*Or, forward this email to your friends.*

Exxon is going to do everything it can to bury this story. That’s why now
is a critical time to keep building momentum and make sure that the call
for investigations is heard loud and clear.

Investigations first got going last fall, when New York Attorney General
Eric Schneiderman launched an inquiry into how Exxon may have lied to the
public and their shareholders about climate change. California Attorney
General Kamala Harris followed suit and said she’d look at launching her
own investigation.

In February, we delivered tens of thousands of signatures to the National
Association of Attorneys General in Washington, D.C., urging more states to
get on board with the investigation.

*The pressure on Exxon has only grown.* Last week, the SEC decided to
override Exxon and force them to host a vote on a shareholder resolution
that would require them to disclose their climate risk. Also in the news
was a decision by the Rockefeller Family Fund to divest from Exxon, calling
their old family company, “morally reprehensible.” Meanwhile, Vermont is
looking at becoming the first state to divest from Exxon.

*It’s up to us to keep up the drumbeat.* For decades, Exxon got away with
deceiving the public and spreading misinformation precisely because they
were able to stay in the dark and work through front groups and PR
companies. This is a big opportunity to push their shady lies out into the
light.

Let’s do this,
