Keith,
Another try. Somthing obviously
went wrong with the last attempt. In case its of interest to anyone.

Simon,
Thanks
for your prompt reply. Thought that was probably the case.
Re the top. On Keiths site it says. "Cut half the top out
using a hammer and chisel". No picture to show exactly what you have done but
believe the best way to do this is probably with a plasma cutter cutting
out a solid 1/2 circle D shape a bit smaller in size leaving a ledge
all the way round the circular rim. One could then weld or pop rivet a flat bar
to the section still remaining across the drum (with a hole through for the
shaft to go through) set back a bit from the plasma cut edge and a piece of
plastic or flat steel cut for the lid hinged off the cross flat bar which fits
just inside the rim but covering all round would serve well as a splash
proof lid. Virtually any liquid that splashed up and made it to between the top
edge of the ledge and the bottom side of the lid would run back in. Only problem
then is the welding of the cross brackets inside as this then becomes a bit more
difficult.
Your copper radiator should work well. Have always felt its a
pity we dont have your yorkshire fittings with the solder inside out
here.
