It's been a while between communications - well, actually for most of you - this is the first time you have heard from me!
We have been run off our feet getting some exciting things together to promote biodiesel in Australia and getting the best information and support available for our building member base.
There are a several things I would like to announce in this email:
1. <http://biodiesel.vtrekker.com>"Kite Surfing on Veggie Oil" with Joshua Tickell - Boxing Day to 6th Jan 2001.So, what else have we been up to? Plenty!
This is planned to go past some of the busiest places at this time of year. To have some fun and share biodiesel with the people. It is also a fantastic chance to catch up with some of the crew of the Biodiesel Association of Australia and for those who know or know of Joshua Tickell to meet him.
We also extend the offer to come and try the activities we will be enjoying along the coast. If you have never been kite surfing - now's your chance!
Pass the word around... The more people come to see us, the more who will know about biodiesel and make it a reality in the new year!
2. New website with a HUGE amount of information (<http://biodiesel.vtrekker.com>http://biodiesel.vtrekker.com) - It will move to it's new domain name early in the new year.
It is still very much a work in progress - but already it represents the best resource in Australia for all the current information on biodiesel, its production, legal status, promotions, happenings overseas and a chance to catch up with other "biodiesel'ers". Association members will have special areas for the additional information they are entitled to. The library, press releases and events will always be public information - It is our aim to keep it so up-to-date and relevant that you will want to check it at least once a week.
Let me know what you think of it (<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED]). If you have any suggestions or comments I will be happy to discuss them with you.
3. Biodiesel Conference in July 2001 (Location and exact date to be set in Feb).
In July, we will be having a conference with international speakers and representatives from State and Federal Government. The conference will include the whole range of issues regarding biodiesel and biofuels. We will keep you posted.
I went to the US for a month and met some of the top people in the biodiesel industry over there. It is amazing to see what they are doing and the amount of research that has already been done on biodiesel. Most of that research we have access to and will be able to make available to our members and make use it while dealing with the State and Federal Governments.
Paul is over in Europe at the moment and talking to as many people as he can in a bit over 6 weeks (less some time for skiing!).
The Biodiesel Association has been requested to put a submission to the Prime Ministers office on biodiesel and the requirements in legislation and support to build the industry.
We will have some other pretty major announcements in the new year. There are several people planning or partially completed setting up production. I am busting at the seams to tell you about them once they are up and running.
It's going to be a fun ride next year - so hang on and enjoy it... At least you know what we leave behind is going to smell like fish and chips!
I hope every one has a wonderful break and great Christmas - See you in the new year.
Cheers,
Adrian Lake.
