While the wind is intermittent it's a lot easier to use and that's what batteries are for to bridge those times. Just build/ buy a good unit, put it up then maintain it once a year, usually just change bearings and brushes. How much work is required to run a gasifier and keep a ICE running ? I'm way too lazy to do that if I can get away with wind, tidal or hydro. I build reliable wind gens for under $100 in parts, a lot easier than a gasifier because you have to feed the gasifier. Running an ICE 24/7 is not a pleasant thing, rebuilding them often, noise ect.
