Solar thermal?

IMO Brayton cycle is nice because you can use air and leaks are just
lost efficiency but not something you go offline for.

There is a company making a compressor for Harley Davidson motorcycles that
is about right size for a home unit. It has variable pitch which is novel.
Bearings need study but I still think it is interesting.

I spoke with a local refrigeration man about my current project--an
organic
rankine cycle expander using an automobile scroll compressor (the only part
of a
Stealth I'll ever own!) and something like propane as its working fluid.
The
man told me that this was not a wise idea, as propane is flammable, and
proceeded to tell me about several recent accidents in the "oil fields"
where
propane is used as a refrigerant.

I responded: "I'd rather ask a stupid question than make a stupid
mistake. .
."

All of these compounds are fraught with risk to some extent. (Ok, I'll
avoid propane, but where can I get something like R 124, or R 134? (note,
NOT
134a)) Your admonition to be careful is good advice! After all, even steam
is
dangerous. . .
