The USA has done the same thing, in many, if not all areas. Being a Mercedes tech, I expected to see much in the way of problems, because of the switch. The reality? I saw no problems at all, either with customers' cars, or my own. The repair consists of replacing old seals in the pump elements, with seals of a different material. As this would require re-calibration of the pump, it must be left to a repair station.

The fuel companies are symphathetic to the plight of users of their product and are prepared to meet the cost of repairing damage to seals etc. Repair usually involves the removal and reconditioning of injector pump. Complaints should be directed to the company who supplies the majority of the fuel that you use. It all originates from the BP refinery but apparently the individual companies are wearing the cost. Your details will be taken and you will be contacted by an independent assessor who will request that you send them details of fuel purchased, copy of registration certificate and a quote for the repair. This is as far as I have progressed so far, see how it all comes together. Enquiries as to durability of rubber fuel line connecting hoses and fuel tank gaskets, float etc were not met with a satisfactory response. Will follow up. Would suggest that anyone in Aust. about to start using BD hold off to see what effect the low sulphur fuel has on engine components. If these components fail their repair through the above process should ensure that they are ready for BD. Regards Paul. Yahoo!
