Mechanics,
I have a German '79 Rabbit (diesel) with about 150K miles. There's a small
leak from the fuel pump. The leak appears to be originating at the
connection of the cold start mechanism, this is on the back side of the fuel
pump, between the pump and the cylinders.
I haven't removed the fuel pump for closer inspection (yet), I plan to this
weekend. Can anyone provide any insight as to the problem, is this
indicative of a major pump problem or do I simply have a loose connection?
I've been running biodiesel off and on for about 4 months now with no
problems, this is the first glitch and I'm not even sure there is a
connection.
I live in San Diego, do I really need the cold start mechanism?
