Neal,

The two prettiest "golds" in the world are those of honey in a
jar and biodiesel, in all their geographic and biologic shades.

Me thinks you got biodiesel. Haven't worked with sunflower oil,
but it shouldn't behave any differently than anything else...give
or take a bit.

The cloudy fuel after 30 hours might be as a result of perhaps
more caustic than necessary. Cloudiness (micro-scopic water)
tends to be universal with all feedstocks as a result. Put it on
a window sill for a day and see what happens. That or gently warm
it in a sauce pan.

I'd try to wash all fuel whenever possible if I were you. Most of
your soap and caustic is in the bottom layer. But not all of it.
Also, I would refrain from putting fuel in the tank until it
clears. You might take the lid off and let it "breathe" a bit
while it's on that window sill.

Just out a' curiosity... How big was that smile when you first
saw the glycerin separate?

Maybe a major in woodworking, but you've just earned a minor in
biofuels... :-)
