Hopefully this will work: http://www.latimes.com/features/printedition/magazine/la-tm-ev123jun08,1,565 3617.story I don't think I have read a better article summarizing the EV1 situation, including the stunning Orwellian runaround one gets from GM Corporate, the in-the-middle situation of the "Subversives" at GM who actually wanted to make things work, the stunning disrespect of customers attempting to make a purchase, the circular reasoning nonsense put forth as to the costs of the batteries (ignoring the potential savings of mass production) etc. The author did a *lot* of homework. In case this wasn't seen by others, I am forwarding it to a few groups. The LA Times is kind of touchy about copyright, so I won't copy it to the boards, but I have kept a copy for myself, assuming that, like other papers, they are jerks and archive it and try to charge too much for access, which inevitably they will (taking money out of the pockets of the author and others), I'll still have a copy for myself and others in the future. For those who like the story, I recommend you save it to your drive. MM ABC News was also supposed to run a story on the EV1 situation around the same time, but "somehow" it didn't air, after they did all that work to put it together.
