What was meant Johs, is that everyone tends to close their eyes to the
residential picture and personal pictures, tending more to focus on "what
other people can do," "what other corporations can do" and what "other
governments can do," rather than what they can contribute at the individual
level.

Just out of curiosity, exactly what have you done to eliminate as much of
your individual contribution as possible? In your culture and region, of
course.

People fail to understand that almost the entire global warming issue stems
from the point of consumerism.

If people weren't buying (energy inefficent or otherwise) there wouldn't be
production (energy efficient or otherwise).

Which probably makes your declaration of "How American" a bit off plumb, at
least relative to this person, as it's the minority of Americans (or any
other nationality for that matter) that focus on cleaning up their own
contribution before moaning and groaning about how everyone else is screwing
things up.

"[Quite] American" would be to rail against the stripping of forests for
cooking fuel in foreign lands while driving an SUV, talking on the cell
phone and slamming a burger while on the run to a meeting where one hopes to
sell a million units of more cheap plastic crap.
