Hakan made some interesting points as to the economy.  I think one
could make the argument that the war on Terrorists is being lost or is
hard-pressed by the economic hardships in the same way that Russia was
said to be the economically bankrupted loser in the 80s Reagan-Era
arms race.

I do think Bush's chances are formidable, though I wouldn't yet go as
far as writing off the Dem chances.  Kerry, for one person, is
independently wealthy enough to sustain a decent campaign, though I
don't know if he can win.  

Although I'd like to be as cynical as Carville as to the elections
being solely a matter of money, I think perhaps that's a
simplification.  Bush was a somewhat weak candidate to begin with (he
didn't win the majority in the last election) and so I'm hopeful we
can get a strong two Dems on a ticket and steadily push him out.
