In fact biodiesel has been increasingly well-publicized, in the US
and elsewhere, but primarily by DIY'ers and backyarders (like most of
us here), not by industry and the big producers, who readily admit
that we're more effective than they are at spreading the message.
(They say we're "useful at demonstrating community support", but
beyond that we're a "peril".) So don't look for much or any good to
come from big investers paying a PR company, we do it much better,
and we do it for nothing - big PR bills just push up the unit price.
(There's no such thing as small PR bills.) Three or four years ago
biodiesel was indeed obscure, but not any longer. If you'd searched
the news and media databases you'd have seen how much publicity about
it you didn't see.

Another myth is that "we're all in this together, big or small, we
all have the same goals, so we should all help each other". If you
believe that you really should disabuse yourself. You could start
here:

Continue with a search for "Noyes" (without the quotes) at both
archives (Graham Noyes is the VP-Sales of World Energy and a member
of both our groups):

It'll take you a bit of time but unless you're prepared to hoist
aboard some at least of the necessary background you shouldn't be so
quick to "take sides" in what is a complex issue (and important).

Another bit of gross distraction is that a major raison d'tre for
the US shifting to biofuels is to "NOT contribute to sending our
money to the middle east". That is an insular, history-free view,
both past and current, and a dangerous and damaging one. I suggest
you learn a little more about US policy in the Middle East over the
last half-century or so, again there's much good info in the
archives. "America and Americans have to radically reduce their
profligate overuse - read 'massive waste' - of fossil fuels, no
matter where they come from." The longer it takes, the more it'll
hurt, but not doing it is not an option.
