It's widely said to be the cutting-edge of the available information, 
and I'd agree with that, though I say it myself. That some of the 
information there has dates on it that might be earlier than 
yesterday doesn't mean it's "dated", just that it's still valid. Mike 
Pelly's method, for instance, has been there for about four years, 
though it's been updated a couple of times, but it's the best 
description available of the basic, single-stage, base 
transesterification method that is still the mainstay method, and 
what all newcomers should start with. Start here:

There are constant breakthroughs of all kinds, and JtF gets updated 
accordingly. Use the resources at JtF, plus this list's archives 
(more than 30,000 messages on all aspects of biofuels, a real 
treasure-trove), and on-list discussion here does the rest.
