Do not do anything until you know that the pan will come off without pulling engine.Remember that you have an oil pickup tube near bottom of pan and clearing rear main usually requires picking engine up aways in majority of cars.You could put a little diesel or bio in tank and drive it to clean up valve train and upper cylinders a little before changing,but that should be the limit.I f engine in good shape and you are using oil that does not sludge up,dont do anything but change oil and filter.Amsoil synthic may be best oil available.
