Hi all, I was just wondering if my yields of Bio Diesel is normal or below. I just made a 48 Liter batch of Bio. After it settled out and I drained off the settling I ended up with about 41 liters of fuel before washing. Does that sound about right for a batch of that size? My oil titrated at 5.6 grams per liter. I mixed 40 liters of oil to 8 liters of Methanol. I got 7 liters of waste.
One other thing that I have found. I have made about 35 gallons of fuel so far. (stop laughing) I have some of it stored at my house in Northern Michigan. The weather has been below freezing up there. Last weekend I walked past my fuel and noticed it looked rather strange. I at first I thought it had something growing in it until I carried it over in front of my heater and it started to warm up. This stuff gels up real quick. It was about 25 degrees F. in the building at the time. After I got the fire going and it warmed up the fuel cleared right up and looked normal. I have come to the conclusion that anything below freezing and this fuel is going to give problems if not heated or treated. Is this what everyone else is getting? Thanks again for the help Rick M Brownstown, Mi.
