"I used to eat out at truck stops, a full meal," she said as she pumped $2.37-a-gallon diesel into her 18-wheeler this week at a truck stop east of Los Angeles. Today, she makes do with Taco Bell burritos, giving up a full stomach for a full fuel tank as the price of satisfying her truck's appetite has shot up. Arriving ahead of Memorial Day weekend, the traditional start of the summer driving season, the high prices are pinching gasoline-dependent businesses and consumers alike.
