As regards the acrolein problem, could it be removed by firing with ethanol for a while and then switch back to glycerine. Or, alternatively using a mix of etanol/glycerine. this reasoning is purely based on solubility. I am just posting my thoughts here. I don't know about earthquakes cuz they r absent in my country (Malaysia) but I know that when the coal mining was abandoned there a lot of sink-holes appeared in the vicinity which could have been due to water-table changes. One more thing I foolishly tried once to pour petrol onto a smouldering heap of grass and almost got myself burnt by a ball of yellow flame striking back. Ethanol flames r blue! Ha ha! No kidding.
