By Dale Hug, JCNN Dec. 02, 19:00 (JST) Isuzu's New Giga Truck in Japan Boasts Low Emissions Tokyo (JCNN) - Isuzu (TSE: 7202) enhanced its lineup of C Series heavy-duty trucks in Japan in anticipation of forthcoming changes in emissions regulations for trucks from 12 tons GVM. The new trucks officially went on sale as Giga Series models on November 10. The new models are the first vehicles to incorporate Isuzu Clean Air Solutions (I-CAS) to dramatically reduce their environmental impact. The solutions incorporate next-generation technologies for optimizing fuel combustion through improved fuel injection, purifying exhaust emissions through an after-treatment system, and precisely controlling the vehicle with electronic systems for data feedback, precision control and more. Thanks to these I-CAS Technologies, the vehicles' 6WF1 inter-cooled, turbo-charged direct injection engine now complies with strict new emission regulations that will be introduced in about one year. What's more, the engine's particulate matter(PM) emissions are 75% lower than the allowable limit, so the trucks will qualify for designation by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as "ultra-low-PM-emissions diesel vehicles." The new ultra-low-emission lineup includes a completed wing-body configuration called the G-Cargo. Standardized specifications and mass production enable Isuzu to offer the model for a very reasonable price with a short delivery time.
