Hi Paul, if you are running non standard (wider) wheels tyres on the
car or have the tyre pressure wrong it will also increase your fuel
consumption. Also, are you sure you had the handbrake off?

I would suggest you have your civic looked at again. I drove mine
for 12 years and got a very reliable 4.8 liters /100km summer and
about 5.5 liters/100km winter. Running 94% octane. (that's 52 mpg
summer and 45 mpg winter) I don't have a lead foot but there's got
to be more to it than that!

3000Lbs empty got 28MPG. I also found that in the city, his
car's
gas mileage was 18 MPG, where mine is about 13. Now I admit to owning
a foot of lead, but does anyone know how this is possible as i drove
both vehicles, and with regular gas? The calculations were correct
for
MPG. Any input would be appreciated. ~ Paul
