Greetings, One can get just about anything for free, if you ask nicely. I have 3000 square feet of tile that was mine for hauling it home. Most of my walls and shelving units are made from scrounged wood, mine for the hauling.
In Huntsville Texas, there is a man that started a company building homes with the stuff regular contractors throw out. Last I heard, he was up to about 10 houses a year.
