And more importantly what type of rubber do they have. There are synthetic 'rubbers' and vegetable rubbers. IIRC vegetable rubber is good with mineral oils and petrochemicals but is disolved by vegetable oil.  Synthetic rubber is what you want for compatibility with veggie oil.  Perhaps all that you need to do is replace the seals.

BTW the new heater element I put in my tank (and the old one that I took out) has a rubber gasket.  It didn't appear to be under attack from the BD or oil.
