Everything is based upon a theory.  The human consciousness is not reality, it is our perception of reality.  There has to be an assumption that we make about where our consciousness and reality intersect.  If that assumption is wrong, then everything we know is wrong.  Very rarely when I get in an argument with someone do I win it based on "logic".  It is almost always a false assumption.  This is any argument, economics, religion, politics, science, etc.  What makes science so powerful is that it acknowledges that everything is based on an assumption (or multiple assumptions).  The fact that something is called a theory does not mean that there isn't evidence to support it.  It means that it can't be PROVED to be true.  For something to become a law, it means we know everything about it and there is no need to investigate it further.  I believe that the fact that science is honest about its assumptions makes it a good tool, not a bad one.

-Paul Webber

Science is based upon an original concept .. and that concept is a theory ..
not fact.
