Spring is eco-fashion season in Ithaca! A "best of eco-/re-fashion" show will be held at Ithaca Festival, 1 pm, June 2, at a stage area in front of the State Theater. The best re-fashions from 2006 and 2007 will be modeled, along with other examples of eco- and vintage fashions.
If you have made/designed apparel that is re-fashioned from reused, recycled, found, or second-materials, or that you have sewn from scratch using earth-friendly fabrics such as bamboo, soy, organic cotton/denim, hemp etc. -- you are invited to apply to be in the eco-fashion show. Please send a description of the garment(s) to Wendy Skinner, [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 607-277-7611. And, as always, models are needed! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The reason for this focus on eco-fashion is that the vast majority of the conventional fashion and garment industries -- which are so prevalent and influential in our lives -- use toxic, environmentally destructive processes and may also depend on unfair and inhumane labor practices to produce a glut of cheap, throw-away goods. Getting consumers interested in how good it feels to wear earth-friendly fashions is a "gateway" activity to responsible choices for a more sustainable future. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Thanks, everyone, for all the good work you do. _______________________________________________ RSS, archives, subscription & listserv information for: [email protected] http://lists.mutualaid.org/mailman/listinfo/sustainabletompkins free hosting by http://www.mutualaid.org
