GREEN BUILDINGS OPEN HOUSE SAT., OCT. 6, 2007 The 6th annual Green Buildings Open House will showcase green building practices and renewable energy technologies at work in Tompkins, Tioga and Schuyler Counties on Sat., Oct. 6. Organized locally by the Ithaca Green Building Alliance and Cornell Cooperative Extension, this year's Open House includes 25 homes and businesses. The sites demonstrate a variety of strategies for building or renovating to create functional, comfortable homes and workplaces that promote environmental sustainability and human health.
A 32 page directory with map and descriptions of the sites can be downloaded as a pdf at www.ccetompkins.org/environment/greenbuildings/tour.htm. Members of the public may take a self-guided tour between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Shuttle van tours led by members of the Ithaca Green Building Alliance will visit 4 sites and will leave from Cooperative Extension at noon and return at 4:30 p.m. The fee to join a guided van tour is $10 per person or $15 for two from the same household (scholarships available).
