Green Building Seminars Continue in March
Weather conditions earlier this year caused the postponement
until March of two Green Building Seminars, offered jointly by Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County and the Ithaca Green Building
Alliance.
Design Process with a Focus on Sustainability will be held on
Tuesday, March 4. Architects Megan Nedzinski and Ernie Bayles will lead a
presentation/discussion on the question of how a "green" agenda changes how
we think about the process of designing buildings.
Non-toxic Interior Materials and Finishes will be held on
Tuesday, March 18. Presenters Sarah Highland and Brent Katzmann will cover
the many options for refinishing existing living spaces, that include
natural paints, plasters, oils and waxes for wood, drywall and masonry
surfaces. The seminar also will touch on ideas for eco-friendly interior
materials including flooring, trim, doors and other millwork, and a look at
posts and beams as "structural finishes" when remodeling.
Both remaining seminars will be held from 7:00-9:00 pm at the
First Unitarian Church Annex, Corner of Buffalo and Aurora Streets in
Ithaca on the dates listed. Fee is $5/seminar. To register, call Tompkins
County Cooperative Extension at 272.2292.
