Hi Tony, This new short article by James Howard Kunstler is something you might want to look at: http://depression2.tv/d2/ JHK is one of the more acute and articulate observers of economic and social developments relating to peak oil in auto-centric societies. He was interviewed at length in The End of Suburbia and also wrote the introduction to Joel Crawford's Carfree Cities book that I helped copyedit nearly a decade ago. His current article includes the prediction "the suburbs will not be rescued." This is a massive paradigm shift, especially for countries like the US where megacities like Houston and LA are essentially 98% suburbs in their basic design concept. We are only seeing the first signs of the tsunami wave on the horizon at present, and most people are not yet able to grok how serious the situation is or how soon the various assumed "solutions" will prove to be unworkable.
