In November, I showed my episode of my local public access TV series Nature
Nearby called "Remembering Redbud Woods." If you missed it, or want to see it
again, it will repeat four times this week on Ithaca area Time Warner Cable
channel 13.
Here's the description:
“Remembering Redbud Woods”
Veterans of the campaign to save Redbud Woods in Ithaca dedicated a plaque
commemorating this urban forest and the effort to preserve it, on October 4,
2007. For four years, the Cornell University administration battled the City of
Ithaca, residents in the University Avenue neighborhood, and hundreds of
Cornell faculty, staff, and students, finally to destroy Redbud Woods, on land
once owned by the Treman family, to build a parking lot in July, 2005. This
show features the articulate speakers at the dedication, along with some images
of confrontation between Cornell police, chainsaw crews, and the tree sitters
and picketers. This show includes one of former Ithaca mayor Ben Nichols's last
public appearances, before he passed away in late November. (You can see Ben's
remarks online at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpUgYfjco1M .)
The cablecast schedule:
Wednesday, March 26 8:00 p.m.
Friday, March 28 1:00 p.m. (right after Democracy Now)
Saturday, March 29 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, March 30 8:30 p.m.
The show is 50 minutes long. It is available only on Ithaca's cable channel 13.
