The Tompkins County Planning Department is working on an Energy Plan element
to be added to the comprehensive plan. They've been interviewing various
folks engaged in researching energy issues in our community, and will host a
public meeting on June 5. We have told them to expect $10/gal gas and
probably
$1/gal per year increase in price. As you can imagine, this has huge
implications for everything else in our comprehensive plan.

Gay,
I think that the question of how a community will sustain itself when
oil is $ 200-400 a barrel and gasoline $ 4-10 per gallon needs to be part of
any planning effort. Those plans may not be needed but there are predictions
ot those prices in the next 5-10 years.

Given the massive failure of leadership at the federal level, what can we do
at the local and state level to make good energy and jobs policy?
