Join us for the first Sew & Tell in our new classroom! The topic is an

and share information and ideas about decorative or practical sewing by hand.
We'll also have information about good sewing ergonomics. Everyone is welcome
to join this FREE gathering, just for the fun of it! Moderated by Andria
Auerell. 6 - 8 pm, Wednesday, June 4, SewGreen Classroom, Women's Community
Building, 100 West Seneca Street, Ithaca.

accessories or attachments, and the user's manual. If you don't have the
manual, we can suggest resources. The workshop will be held 1 - 3 pm, Saturday,
June 7, in the SewGreen Classroom, Women's Community Building, 100 West Seneca
Street, Ithaca. Cost is $10 for one person with one machine. **Pre-registration

ABOUT US
SewGreen (a not-for-profit program of Ithaca-based Social Ventures, Inc.)
encourages sustainability in the use of fabric, fiber, and fashion. We offer
low-cost community sewing classes and workshops; refurbish older sewing
machines; run a reuse/resale/redistribution program for fabric and needlecraft
supplies; sponsor eco-fashion design competitions; and do outreach and
education. SewGreen has partnered with Ithaca's all-sustainable clothing store,
Tuff Soul, for its donation drop-off and resale program, and we recently opened
our classroom in the Women's Community Building in downtown Ithaca. SewGreen
aims to redefine sewing and needlecrafts as self-reliant skills that can be
applied to earth-friendly projects and design, and presents an alternative to
"shop till you drop" consumer attitudes. An inter-generational program,
SewGreen empowers individuals of all backgrounds to make choices based on
personal style, creativity, reuse, and durability -- with no new impact on the e
 nvironment.

DONATIONS of fabric, yarn, sewing notions, and sewing machines help keep us
going! YES, PLEASE, we accept clean, folded yardage; yarn by the skein; sewing
and needlecraft notions of any vintage; and sewing machines of any vintage. We
have to say NO THANKS to patterns, curtains, bed linens, slip covers, polyfill,
or clothing -- all of which may be donated to the Salvation Army or other
thrift shops. Please, NO unfinished projects, deconstructed clothing, fabric
with patterns attached, and nothing with pins in it.

HOURS for donation drop-offs are 11am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday, at Tuff
Soul, 516 West State Street, Ithaca. Limit for one trip is the equivalent of
three garbage bags. If you have more to donate or need help delivering it,
contact Wendy, [EMAIL PROTECTED], 607-277-7611 to make other arrangements.

Donated materials are used in our classes or for SewGreen projects, are given
to other charitable organizations, or go into our resale display at Tuff Soul.
(Looking for some great fabric at bargain prices? Check it out. Your purchase
supports SewGreen and adds no new environmental impact.)
