Greetings from the Finger Lakes State Parks!
 
We’re gearing up for a great summer and are starting off with some fun 
programs.  Hope to see you there!
 
FINGER LAKES STATE PARKS ANNOUNCE ACTIVITIES FOR JUNE 13-21
 
Friday, June 13
 
8:00 P.M., Buttermilk Falls State Park, Ithaca.
BEAUTY OF BATS. Learn the truth about these much maligned but beneficial 
creatures.  Meet at the campground pavilion across from cabin 3. 
 
Wednesday, June 18
 
8:00 P.M., Watkins Glen State Park, Watkins Glen.
FANTASTIC FROGS. Is that a cricket?  No.  It’s the melodious chorus of our 
local frogs!  Come hear their varying calls and learn what they are doing in a 
woodland pond habitat.  Meet at the campground recreation shelter. 
 
Thursday, June 19
 
11:00 A.M., Taughannock Falls State Park, Trumansburg.
TALL TALES OF TAUGHANNOCK FALLS. Walk with a park naturalist to discover the 
origins and nature of one of the highest waterfalls in the Northeast.  Meet at 
the start of the Gorge Trail by Route 89.
 
2:00 P.M., Buttermilk Falls State Park, Ithaca.
THE BEAUTY OF BUTTERMILK FALLS.  Join a park naturalist on a ¾-mile hike 
through this gorge of stunning waterfalls and pools.  Meet at the swim area in 
the lower park off Route 13.
 
Friday, June 20
 
2:00 P.M., Robert H. Treman State Park, Ithaca.
STREAM SAFARI.  Life in the underwater world of Enfield Creek has many 
surprises. Bring your wading shoes and find out what they are. Meet at the 
South Shelter in the lower park.
 
8:00 P.M., Robert H. Treman State Park, Ithaca.
BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES, MAGNIFICENT MOTHS.  Which has fuzzy antennae?  Which has 
scales on their wings?  How can you tell?  Join a naturalist to answer these 
questions and discuss what keeps these unique fluttering insects in the same 
family.  See mounted examples of the insects and create your own butterfly or 
moth magnet to take home!  Meet at the Park Office
 
Saturday, June 21
 
11:00 A.M., Watkins Glen State Park, Watkins Glen. 
WALK BEHIND THE WATERFALLS. Join a park naturalist on a guided nature walk one 
mile up the Gorge Trail to explore the origins and history of the gorge. Meet 
at the end of the parking lot in the main entrance of the park off of Franklin 
St./NYS Route 14.
 
2:00 P.M., Robert H. Treman State Park, Ithaca.
TWO GORGES IN ONE.  Enfield Glen has rocky and wooded sections.  Explore both 
sections on this ½-mile walk to 115-foot-high Lucifer Falls.  Meet at the Old 
Mill in the upper park off NYS Rt. 327.
 
All programs are free and open to the public, no registration required, 
although a parking fee may be charged.  If you would like further information
