The Race Liberation Alliance presents the Second Annual Summertime Block 
Party on Saturday July 5, 2008 outside the Greater Ithaca Activities 
Center, 318 N. Albany St., Ithaca, NY. The purpose of the event is to 
foster community unity across diverse cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic 
lines while promoting social justice and sustainable lifestyles.

This fun event is free and open to the public and will last from 2:00 to 
8:00 PM.

Just a few highlights of the Summertime Block Party:

* Live soul, reggae and hip hop music from acclaimed musicians Thousands 
of One, Mbusi, Hip Hop Congress Showcase, and Kevin Kinsella’s original 
roots and reggae band Food, Clothes & Shelter.
* Performance by powerful female social activist, vocalist and spoken 
word artist Taína Asili with her band Taína y La Banda Rebelde.
* Poetry from emcee Michelle Berry, former Poet Laureate of Tompkins 
County, and neighborhood youth.
* An organic ribs and chicken BBQ & vegetarian fare featuring food grown 
by local farms, prepared by neighborhood churches and sold at a 
suggested donation so everyone can enjoy and be nourished by the bounty 
of our region! (made possible by the generous support of GreenStar). 
Bring your own place setting and you'll be entered into a special 
raffle, or use our compostable plates, cups and utensils.
* Vendors with Values- handcrafted Native American jewelry, organic 
clothing and more from businesses owned by your neighbors!
* Urban, sustainable fashion show with Tuff Soul.
* Dozens of organizations working on social justice and sustainability 
issues will offer informational displays.
* A raffle with a chance to win Grassroots tickets and other fabulous 
prizes from your favorite local businesses!
