FLYING INSECTS. Whether it has hidden wings, compound eyes, or an exoskeleton,
insects are full of interesting qualities. Join a naturalist as we discover
what makes insects such fascinating creatures, and make your own insect kite to
take home! Meet at the swim area in the lower park off Route 13.
2:00 P.M., Taughannock Falls State Park, Trumansburg.
BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES & MAGNIFICENT MOTHS. Join a naturalist to answer
questions about the differences between butterflies and moths, and discuss what
keeps these unique fluttering insects in the same family. Make a craft to take
home! Meet at the swim area off Route 89.

NATURE AT NIGHT. Come to test your night senses on this evening walk and learn
about the adaptations of several nocturnal animals. Meet at the campground
pavilion in the lower park.

TALL TALES OF TAUGHANNOCK FALLS. Walk with a park naturalist to discover the
origins and nature of one of the highest waterfalls in the Northeast. Meet at

surprises. Bring your wading shoes and find out what they are. Meet at the

FANTASTIC FROGS. Is that a cricket? No, it's the melodious chorus of local
frogs! Hear their calls and learn what they are doing in a woodland pond
habitat. Meet at the campground recreation building.
8:00 P.M., Buttermilk Falls State Park, Ithaca.
FEATHERED FRIENDS. Learn about some native birds and make a pinecone
bird-feeder to take home with you! Meet at the campground pavilion across from
cabin #3.
8:00 P.M., Taughannock Falls State Park, Trumansburg.
NIGHT NOISES. Use your sense of sound to experience wildlife in the park.
Learn about communication between nocturnal creatures, and take a hike to hear
them in action! Meet at the campground pavilion.

series, and everyone is welcome to bring picnics and blankets and enjoy music
by the shore of Cayuga Lake. Enter at the main entrance of the park from Route

SPACE INVADERS. Join a park naturalist for a hike while learning about the
animals and plants that have come into our parks from around the world. We
will spend time talking about several of the invasive species and what we can
do to help protect our parks. Participants will also help to remove some
invasive plants. Bring your gardening gloves! Meet at the campground pavilion
in the lower park.
2:00 P.M., Taughannock Falls State Park, Trumansburg.
ON THE RIGHT TRACK. Participate in a hands-on activity making animal track
field guides using rubber stamps. Then take a short walk to learn how to
recognize animal signs. Meet by the Lower Falls off of Rt. 89.

NATURE JOURNALING. Do you enjoy noticing things in nature? Then you should
have your own nature journal to keep track of your observations! Come and
create your own nature journal and then take a short hike to learn some neat
ways to record your experiences. Great for all ages! All supplies provided.
Meet at the campground recreation building.
8:00 P.M., Taughannock Falls State Park, Trumansburg.
BEAR IT ALL: THE BLACK BEARS STORY. Learn all about the Black Bear's
habitat, family life and eating habits as they find their way back into areas
of central New York. Participate in activities and see how we can positively
coexist with Black Bears. Meet at the campground pavilion.
