Outdoor educator, mentor at Earth Arts Earth Arts, is a creative outdoor education program in Ithaca that specializes in connecting youth and adults to the land, each other, and themselves, through building a supportive, dynamic, nature-based community. We mentor students through observation, discovery, adventure, the arts, and team-building to develop naturalists, artisans, stewards, mentors, and leaders.
We are seeking a male mentor-instructor to join our staff in the fall 2008. This position provides opportunities to work weekly with home school, weekend, and after school programs mentoring children, teens, and adults in a variety of programs. Applicant should have good knowledge and experience with primitive living skills and crafts, naturalist skills and awareness, love of the outdoors, and a strong desire to pass these skills on to others, and to work closely and creatively with staff. Carpentry skills, an interest in permaculture design practices, and the gift of music and storytelling would be a plus. The hours of this position may vary depending upon experience and availability. Qualified individuals without mentoring experience may apply as an apprentice.
