Cooperative Extension Seeks New Environmental Program Committee Members
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County (CCE-Tompkins) is
seeking six community members who will form a new Program Advisory
Committee to develop and guide environmental issues programming in our
county. This effort emerges from increased local interest in green
building technologies, renewable energy, water quality, alternative
transportation, and resource conservation issues.
Program Advisory Committees typically meet once a month, and
volunteer for a term of 1 to 3 years. This new committee will work
directly with Sharon Anderson, former Executive Director of Cayuga Lake
Watershed Network, who has been hired as Cooperative Extension's new staff
Team Coordinator for Environmental Issues programs starting later this month.
It is the intention of CCE-Tompkins to include a diverse cross
section of the community in its leadership positions, including people who
participate in its programs and allied professionals. Interested
applicants must be residents of Tompkins County and should have interests
that are among the environmental topics mentioned above.
To join the Advisory Committee, please send a letter of interest
by October 17 to Ken Schlather at <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED]
or at CCE-Tompkins, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca NY 14850-3555. Please direct
questions to Ken at 607.272.2292. Advisory Committee members also will
complete a volunteer application form (available at www.ccetompkins.org
under "Volunteering") at a later date.
CCE-Tompkins is an independent non-profit organization whose
mission is to provide educational information and programs that help people
in our county to improve their quality of life. It offers educational

community development, agriculture and horticulture, natural
