Traditional Recipes from Around the World Prepared with Local Foods
Monday, October 13 from 1:30pm – till gone (6pm-ish)

What do the freshest foods gown here in the Finger Lakes taste like when 
they are prepared by chefs using recipes passed down form generations 
and influenced by cultures from around the world? Come find out on 
Monday, October 13 at Cornell Cooperative Extension’s cross-cultural 
celebration of the harvest for children and adults on First Street 
between Hancock & Adams in Ithaca.

Rival your palate with Cuban, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Jamaican and 
Southern style cooking prepared with ingredients grown by neighboring 
farms and prepared by local chefs. Enjoy a lunch or dinner plate that 
includes:

Le My Trieu & Trung Dai Lam’s Egg Rolls, Vietnamese salad and Lo Mein
Bruce McDonald’s Jamaican Curry Chicken/Goat and Caribbean Peas & Rice
Ying’s Sweet Basil Tofu & Vegetable Stir Fry from Thailand
Sister Geri’s mouthwatering southern style Ribs, Roasted Corn & Collards
Roy Josef’s Cuban Rice & Beans

This local foods lunch and dinner is a part of CCE- Tompkins Fall 
Harvest Festival that has been expanded to take place in the P&C parking 
lot (212 Hancock Street), in the garden at the First Baptized Church 
(412 First Street) and along First Street. The Fall Harvest Festival is 
from 1:30-5:00pm. Activities include:

* Free hayrides
* 4-H live animal display and fitness trail
* Pumpkin painting, gourd decorating and other harvest-themed crafts
* Food samples and nutrition activities
* Cheese samples with the Dairy Princess
* Storytelling with the Family Reading Partnership
* Activities and displays by CCE, the Ithaca Children’s Garden, and many 
other organizations
* Lunch & dinner plates featuring local foods and ethnic recipes sold at 
a suggested donation by the First Baptized Church (dinner plates will be 
sold until 6pm-ish)

Cornell Cooperative Extension sponsors this event to celebrate the 
harvest with our neighbors in the Northside, Fall Creek and Southside 
neighborhoods. This event is free and all are welcome to participate.

CCE-Tompkins thanks participating groups and organizations including the 
Multicultural Resource Center, the Ithaca Children’s Garden, the First 
Baptized Church of Jesus Christ, GreenStar Community Projects, the Dairy 
Princess Program, and local farms including Sabol's, Cayuga Pure 
Organics, Early Morning, Stick & Stone and BWW for helping to make this 
event a success.
