Hi Julie,

We did it. After being flooded with hundreds of calls and emails from
citizens like you, state legislators finally passed our energy
efficiency and conservation bill (House Bill 2200) last Wednesday.

Pennsylvania will now have one of the nation's most comprehensive and
aggressive plans to cut energy use. This program will cut global
warming pollution, while helping to protect Pennsylvanians from
rising electricity rates.

And click here to read the Philadelphia Inquirer's editorial
applauding the bill's passage:

(this article better explains what's so strong about the legislation)

To everyone who attended our Lobby Day in June, to everyone who
called or emailed their state legislator, and to everyone who helped
spread the word about this critical campaign, go ahead and pat
yourself on the back. You deserve it.

The new energy efficiency and conservation program will accomplish a
lot, but most importantly it will require utilities to cut
electricity use in the state 1% by 2011 and 3% by 2013.

While this might not seem like much, it's a critical first step
towards reigning in our runaway energy use. And even this first step
will cut global warming pollution by an amount equivalent to taking
over 1 million cars off the road for a year.

So thanks again for all of your support on this critical campaign.
Our hard work paid off in a big way for Pennsylvania's environment.

Sincerely,

David Masur
