While its true that brand new eco apparel (see posts below) can help turn 
around the highly polluting and wasteful ragtrade', it is also a very valid 
green option to not buy new threads at all. And this past week we had a couple 
of stories that drive that point home. FoundClothing is a blog cataloguing 2.5 
years worth of clothes discovered on the street and rescued from landfill, with 
nought but a simple laundering. And should dumpster diving not be your thing, 
fear not. You can learn to sew with the practical new book, Sew It Up , a 
manual for beginners. As one commenter put it "This would be a great book for 
me, as my current practice is to throw out shirts if they lose more than 2 
buttons."
