CALL FOR ENTRIES: Fashion & Gallery Show
SewGreen is hosting a "creative reuse" gallery show of original and redesigned
fashions; fabric and fiber art; and creative stitchery at the Community School
of Music and Art, in downtown Ithaca, in the month of April, 2009. The opening
will feature a fashion show on the evening of Friday, April 3. The show's theme
is R-E-S-P-E-C-T (thank you, Ms Aretha Franklin), as in: respect for our
planet, its workers, and our independent creative abilities. Entries must be
completely made or reconstructed from reused or existing materials. Items may
be priced for sale but must remain in the gallery for the duration of the show.
Contact Wendy, [email protected] for guidelines or visit www.sew-green.org to
download the entry form.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
OPEN SEWS, 1 to 4 pm, First & Third Sundays
The SewGreen classroom is open to anyone who wants to sew on their own project,
or help us with one of ours. There is no formal instruction, but sometimes
visitors help each other solve sewing problems. Our tools and materials are
available to use, and it's just fun to sew in a group. Free and open to all.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
DONATIONS & RESALE
SewGreen depends on your donations of good-quality but unwanted fabric, sewing
and needlecraft supplies, and sewing machines. We sort and redistribute these
materials. We donate appropriate materials to charity sewing groups, we reuse
materials in our classes, we refurbish machines for reuse or resale, and we
have two retail outlets for good-quality selected fabric and yarns: Tuff Soul,
516 W State Street, Ithaca (also our main drop-off location); and the ReUse
Center in the Triphammer Mall. Please reuse materials whenever possible, and
support SewGreen's activities for youth and adults through your donations and
purchases. Donations guidelines can be found at:
www.sew-green.org/sew_donation. Thank you.
