Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County will offer a Master Food Preserver training in April. This is a 3-day program for those who would like to go beyond the basics of home food preservation -- either for your own use or to help others learn how to safely preserve food. However, no prior experience in food preservation is required.
You will learn the science of food preservation, boiling water bath canning, pressure canning, freezing and drying foods, quick pickling, and making jam/jelly using the safest, most updated information available. The 3-day training will be held on: When: Wednesday, April 15th - Friday, April 17th, from 8am to 4pm (all 3 days) Where: CCE-Tompkins, 615 Willow Ave., Ithaca Cost: $225 per person Those who attend the full 3-days and choose to take the exam will receive a Certificate of Participation. Those wishing to become a 'CCETC Master Food Preserver' will need to complete a volunteer application and satisfactorily complete an additional 30 hours of supervision by CCETC food preservation staff. This is a hands-on training, so space is limited. Please contact Carole Fisher at (607) 272-2292 or [email protected] as soon as possible if you are interested, and feel free to pass this information on to others who may be interested. _______________________________________________ For more information about sustainability in the Tompkins County area, please visit: http://www.sustainabletompkins.org/ RSS, archives, subscription & listserv information for: [email protected] http://lists.mutualaid.org/mailman/listinfo/sustainabletompkins Questions about the list? ask [email protected] free hosting by http://www.mutualaid.org
