Dear Sean,

I definitely want to be involved. I am in Germany for a year, but likely
will be back in late summer, if I find a job.

Here are some thoughts:

We should include all churches of Ithaca, having them ring 350 times and
having banners fly from their staples.
We could have 350 apple trees be planted in the form of a 350, out
somewhere in an orchard area, as a sign of hope.
We should have 350 university professors stand up for 350.
We could have 350 families sign in for a communal solar power plant.
We could collect $ 350.000 ($100 from 350 people) to build a photovoltaic
communal power plant.
We could get 350 kids form a 350 number, showing the need that we need
<350 ppm for the sake of our children.
Ithaca (including Cornell) should commit to a 35% cut in emissions by the
year 2015, 50% by 2020, and 90% by 2030. Seriously. We need that, and if
nations don't dare to do what is needed we cities need to show them what
is needed.

Before that day we need to go into every school and talk in front of every
class to explain what that number means and why we urgently need to act;
of course that needs to be age-appropriate. But even 6-year old do
understand the basic needs to take care of our earth; well, they
understand it better than most adults. This should happen all through
September, so, right at the start of the school year. So schools need to
be contacted before summer break. Best would be to invite all teachers and
principals to a teach-in before the break so they understand the urgency
of us going into their schools.

I am specializing on talking to school students, mostly 5-12 grade and
would love to be included in talks distributed among all of us who are
experienced in giving presentations. To be able to cover all classes in
Ithaca AND Thompkins county (and it's more effective to talk to one or
just a few classes at a time to have a better discussion afterwards) we
should train people to give presentations. I'd LOVE to help train people
and pass on my presentation to others.

Best.
Maiken
