Former Ithacan ANDY MOERLEIN will be in town starting this thursday to create
two pieces for the 2009 Art in the Heart of the City exhibition - and you can
see below that he's in search of SLATE for his pieces.
The stone quarry only has sandstone - anyone have any ideas that are legal? (eg
taking slate from Six Mile Creek isn't legal ...)
thanks - Patricia Haines 339-9472
FROM ANDY MOERLEIN:

I am also looking for a place to gather shale. There are lots of town sites
that might work, or perhaps a local quarry would let me pick a van full or two.
That is my Thursday afternoon activity. If you could try to find a place close
by I would be thrilled with an introduction. I am looking for plate/platter
sized slate that is not too thick. I suspect a quarry would sell me as much as
I can carry in my van for a nominal fee. Location and access will be my
challenge.
