Do you have agricultural acreage and an interest
in planting nut trees? Then come to the summer
meeting of the New York Nut Growers Association
at the Plant Materials Center, Natural Resources
Conservation Service (USDA), in Big Flats, NY, on
Saturday, August 8, from 9 3:30, to hear Ernie
Grimo, a well-known nut tree nurserymaan talk on
this topic. Other speakers will discuss oak
trees of the Northeast and the use of hazelnuts
in a permaculture designed farm. Martin Van der
Grinten and staff will present the history and
current programs of the Center, with a focus on
the Copper Chinquapin Oak, followed by a hay ride
tour of the plantings. Registration is $10.00,
and includes a light breakfast and lunch (choose
from roast beef, ham and Swiss, tuna salad,
turkey, or veggie-humus). Check should be made
