Hello all,

A group of fellow environmental activists in the local area are working to
put together an event for 350.org’s International Day of Action in October (
http://www.350.org/). While the official date of the world-wide action is
the 24th of October, we are planning ours for the 18th of October in order
to coincide with the Bioneers Conference that will be taking place here in
Ithaca.

On the 18th of October we will be taking a group photo in the Commons at
12:30. This photo will then be uploaded to the 350.org site in order to
create a strong message for delegates heading to the UN climate negotiations
in Copenhagen that we want bold, new climate legislation.

Currently, we are looking for people to table at this event (and part of the
photo!) so that we may boast our local environmental groups, as well as
educate people about the many ways that they can reduce their carbon
footprint. If you are part of an organization, own a business, or know one
that may be interested in tabling at this event, please contact Lindsey
Hardy by e-mail at: [email protected] or by phone at: (518) 651 4235
for more information. We are also seeking volunteers to help on the day of
the event, so please let us know if you are interested in assisting us on
October 18th.

There will be no charge for tabling, and we have already acquired the
permits necessary to table on the Commons. However, due to our lack of
funding, we will not be supplying tables or chairs. If your organization
needs a table, an 8’ table can be rented from Rick’s Rentals (277-0111) for
$6.50.

350.org was founded by Bill McKibben to ignite an international campaign
around climate change that acknowledges that solutions to the climate crisis
are demanded by both science and justice. The number 350 represents the
target level of carbon dioxide in parts per million (ppm) in the atmosphere
if we wish to avoid irreversible climate change. Currently, we are at 389
ppm. Delegates have yet to recognize the 350 target in negotiations, and it
is 350.org’s goal to change that. The International Day of Action is the
world’s way of letting public leaders know that we are holding them
accountable. So please help us make this day one that leaders around the
world will not be able to forget!

Thank you for your time.

Looking forward to working with you,

Lindsey Hardy
