We've had a few new problems crop up over the last few weeks, one
potentially dangerous, one mildly annoying.
I've blocked two messages that are just a link to an attack site.
They're coming from addresses that are members of this list, so I'm
guessing they're the result of viruses. The only reason they're ending
up in moderation is because they send to too many addresses - the virus
seems to be over-ambitious. I'm hoping it doesn't learn better, but...
If you get a message from this list (or anyone, really) with no subject
and just an obscure-looking URL, please don't click the URL. It may not
be good for your computer.
The annoyance is a smaller problem. People are posting messages to this
list and other lists at the same time. When recipients hit "reply all",
the conversation breaks into pieces, depending on which of those folks
are on which lists. So far this has just meant I've had replies coming
from people not on this list, but it can get really really hard to
follow when different people see different parts of the conversation.
I know it's exciting to share news with multiple groups, and the CC line
is just waiting there... but it's a lot easier to deal with the
conversation if separate lists get separate messages.
